25th Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner
Bob McKillop, guest speaker at KSA's first Volunteer Recognition Dinner in 1989, returned in dramatic fashion as the speaker for the 25th annual event. His talk about the important roles sports volunteers fill and their influence on the athletes involved in their programs was not only very thought provoking but also extremely entertaining. Well worthy of the appreciative standing ovation Bob received from the (over) 200 attendees at the end of the evening's proceedings!
Don Cameron was back as M.C. and kept things moving along right on schedule - through all 27 of the volunteer presentations! It was a tremendous group of individuals nominated for recognition by their various sports organizations and shows the local minor sports scene should be in good hands as we move forward into the next 25 years!
Councillor Kelly Galloway-Sealock brought greetings from the City of Kitchener and thanked the volunteers for their contributions to the local community.
The event's Chair, Russ Woloshyn, also extended congratulations to the award recipients and thanked the committee members: Bob McKillop, Gord Dearborn, Adele Couchman, Toni Pottier, Lerinda Chapeskie, Bernie Strauss and Rick Weinstein.
Thanks everyone - now let's play!
