Olympic Dreams Awards to date

The following athletes were recognized in the first year of
the KSA Olympic Dreams Program:
2004 Athletes
Sharon Bowes - Shooting
Tara Brawley - Synchronized Swimming
Jason Douglas - Boxing
Dana Ellis - Track & Field
Jennifer Fratesi - Swimming
Megan Poss - Synchronized Swimming
Erin Scherrer - Figure Skating
Rachel Schill - Softball
Kelly Vanderbeek - Skiing
In the years immediately following the initial launch of the KSA Olympic Dreams Program KSA supplied additional funding to help with the ongoing training and other expenses of Kelly Vanderbeek and Erin Scherrer. We are pleased to note that Kelly proceeded to make Canada's Ski Team and has already participated in the Olympics (4th place finish in 2006). As Kelly has now realized her "Olympic Dreams" she is no longer receiving funding from this program.
Also, in the years since the launch in 2004, several other local athletes have been added to the KSA Olympic Dreams program as being possible contenders for Canada's Olympic Team. These athletes include:
- Andrew Poje & Caitlyn Weaver (Ice Dance)
Samantha Kowalski (synchronized swimming) was also on the Olympic Dreams "watch list" until "retiring" from competition in 2008 to help coach others. We wish Samantha well with her coaching responsibilities.
