In 2003, the KSA originated the Ted Scharf Humanitarian Award. The award is given to a member of the (Kitchener Rangers Hockey Club) for volunteerism and community service.
The award is presented at the annual year-end Kitchener Ranger banquet and the winner is further recognized at the annual KSA Scholarship Dinner in May.
