The KSA Olympic Dreams Program was launched in January 2004. The mission of this program is to utilize the resources of KSA to foster and encourage the development of our community's athletes in preparation for upcoming Summer and Winter Olympic games.  (When launched, the intent was to provide funding, if sustainable, in an effort to support the athletes eligible for the 2010 Olympics being hosted by Canada in Vancouver, British Columbia.  The Program has proven very successful and KSA continues funding accomplished local Olympic hopefuls.

The objectives of this program are:  

q       To identify athletes and support staff in our community (Kitchener-Waterloo, Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich) who aspire to be participants in upcoming Olympic Games.

q       To recognize Olympic Games candidates and encourage community support for their development as contenders to be named to the Canadian Olympic Team.

q       To financially support the contenders and/or members of future Canadian Olympic Team.

 Eligibility for Involvement

Individuals from the community  (identified as Kitchener-Waterloo and Townships of Wellesley, Wilmot and Woolwich)who are:

q       Aspirants – individuals who have personal goals and aspiration of becoming a member of the Canadian Olympic Team – may identify themselves or be identified by peers or local sporting associations.

q       Contenders – individuals who have achieved a level of excellence that indicates they are legitimate contenders to be considered as members of the Canadian Olympic Team. Qualification may require endorsement by a local sporting association.

q       Olympic Team Candidates or Members – individuals who are candidates or actual team members as identified by the governing body of the Canadian Olympic Team.

You are encouraged to keep us informed about local athletes who fit the criteria.
