Blaire Gateman, one of the Spin12 co-chairs, recapped the event noting that $37,200 was raised this year bringing the 3 year total to over $140,000. Proceeds go to St Mary's Regional Cardiac Care Centre and to help world-class Ontario athletes with their training expenses. He also noted that next year's date is Feb 20, 2010.

Toni Pottier, KSA team captain, introduced the KSA team of 12 riders who collectively raised $5,250 with the largest contribution coming from Kathy Wilkinson. Thanks to all the KSA riders. Well done, again!

Walter Browning, President & Publisher of SportsXpress, introduced himself to the group and talked briefly about his papers & the internet. He invited local sports groups to take advantage of his offer of free media coverage and internet communication & website links.
The Display Project at Activa Sportsplex - Gord Dearborn updated members on progress. Installation is tentatively set for March 3rd. Minor sports groups are invited to submit programming material and names of potential advertisers ASAP.

Andrew Poje & Kaitlyn Weaver - cheque presentation by John Thompson, Chair of the KSA Olympic Dreams Program. Bill Poje accepted the cheques on behalf of the dancers, updated us on their current status (3rd in Canada) and future plans. Andrew & Kaitlyn are expected to join us in person at our March 17 dinner meeting.
The Places to Play Campaign - 2009 KSA donation
Tom Gural presented cheques of $5,000 each to Kitchener Minor Hockey and the Waterloo Regional Boxing Academy to fulfill KSA's pledge for 2009. The facility is open now with a "gran-opening" date yet to be confirmed. KMHA is however, having their 75th Anniversary Celebration there on March 28th
Note: The Scholarship deadline is April 20th (note: revised date) and the dinner is May 12th.
