Places to Play public campaign kick-off luncheon is Thursday Sept 27th at 11:30 AM in the Don Cameron Room at the Kitchener Auditorium. Bob McKillop, on behalf of Kitchener Minor Hockey, and (later in the evening) Rick Cadilha, on behalf of the Waterloo Regional Boxing Academy, expressed their thanks for the support of KSA with "pacesetter" $100,000 donation. Oct 16th collaborative meeting with The Kitchener Rangers Directors and guest speakers Peter DeBoer (Coach & GM) and Steve Bienkowski (COO and 2008 Memorial Cup Host Committee Chair)
Nov 13th is the Annual Volunteer Recognition Dinner with Jim Fanning
Motion presentation by Bill Pegg for the
Kitchener Minor Boys Softball Association capital campaign for improvements to the facilities at
Wilson Park. Update and questions answered by KMBSA President Mark May. This is a $100,000 project and, after City Council approval, will hopefully get under way in November and be ready for the next playing season
Moved by Pete McIlwraith, and seconded by Larry Lynch, that KSA donate $7,000 to KMBSA with payment to be made $3,500 this KSA fiscal year and $3,500 in the next KSA fiscal year. CARRIED

7:30 - Presentations - Bell Community Sport Fund – Rob Brown, Senior Director, Bell Canada - informed us on the funds available to local youth sports groups (ages 4 - 17) with $2.4 million paid out so far and $1 million ear-marked for this year. Next submission deadline is the end of Sept.! Appreciation by Adele Couchman
Kitchener Colts Fastball Team (Boys) – Kevin Gartz, coach & his son, Brad (player) updated dinner attendees on their recent trip to the National Championships in Nova Scotia and thanked KSA for its funding support.
Kitchener Blue and Gold Bantam Softball Team – Ron Flanagan & playing daughters Jamie & Christa talked about their recent trip to Surrey B.C for the Canada Cup and thanked KSA for its financial support.
National Karate Championships – Alexander David, in attendance with his brother Joshua and Ben, his father, updated KSA on his trip to Richmond B.C. and thanked KSA for helping with the expenses.
